GLA’s letter to the Ramsar Secretariat

This letter was sent to the Ramsar secretariat in February 2023, after GLA members reviewed the EIA for the Levera development which raised numerous questions about the status of the Levera Ramsar site (https://grenadaland.org/newsroom/grenada-land-actors-review-of-levera-national-resort-eia). The letter was copied to numerous Government entities in Grenada as well. So far, there has been no response. As GLA’s case proceeded, more information trickled out (https://grenadaland.org/newsroom/while-professing-climate-action-at-cop-28-grenada-faces-criticism-for-the-destruction-of-its-sole-ramsar-protected-wetland-in-levera) about the plans for the Ramsar site which appears to confirm many of GLA’s initial concerns regarding significant damage occurring at the site as a result of the present development.
